Description : Kinako is roasted soybean flour. This particular kinako is made from soybeans grown in the Tokachi region of Hokkaido, an area renowned for the quality of its agricultural products. With a melt-in-the-mouth texture, it is traditionally used in Japanese sweets thanks to its naturally sweet, nutty flavor reminiscent of peanuts. Kinako is rich in protein and fiber, and is also gluten-free.
Flavor : Sweet with peanut, roasted hazelnut and buckwheat notes.
Use : Kinako is often sprinkled on top of mochi, warabimochi or dango, Japanese sweets made of rice flour but also on top of crushed ice kakigori, with red azuki beans paste. Delicious mixed with milk or yogurt, kinako can be added to your lattes, custards, flan and pana cotta. In pastries such as cookies or biscuits, the taste of kinako will be stronger.
