Founded in 1967 with a tea production area of 10 ares, Henta Seicha is a tea producing company based in Kagoshima. Henta's tea leaves are grown at the foot of Kirishima, a mountain range located in central Kagoshima, on the border with Miyazaki Prefecture. The fields are thus located at an altitude of 200 to 300m, surrounded by woods and mountains that prevent pesticide drift from surrounding producers. Henta Seicha also produces its own compost to ensure that their tea leaves receive sufficient nutrients. Around 2014, the company began growing tencha, a nutrient-rich unrefined tea that is usually ground into a powder to produce matcha.
