EcoRice

First created in 1995 as an association of local farmers, EcoRice as a company was established in 2002. Based in Nagaoka, in Niigata Prefecture, the company has fewer than ten employees. After the Chuetsu earthquake in 2004, the company, which was already producing organic rice, realized that some people with diabetes couldn’t eat their rice. They then decided to change their manufacturing method to produce even healthier rice. Environmentally conscious, EcoRice practices sustainable agriculture: rice is replanted after each harvest to nourish the soil. The ideal climate conditions in Niigata and new packaging technologies make their rice truly fresh and among the best in Japan.
