Chasen, 100 bristle matcha whisk

The chasen is a small bamboo whisk used to prepare matcha (powdered green tea).

Never put the wet chasen back into its plastic box, but let it dry upside down so that the water drains out properly.
The slight irregularities sometimes seen on bamboo tea whisks come from the artisanal cutting and splitting process of the bamboo, a natural characteristic that testifies to their traditional craftsmanship. Each whisk is unique, and these minor imperfections will naturally fade with use. To care for it, simply soak the chasen in warm water for about ten minutes to soften the bamboo strands, then gently comb them to remove any loose fibers.
