Description

This Minoyaki fine earthenware matcha bowl captivates with its elegant contrast between soft white and a deep shade of blue applied to the rim, which evokes the sea ("Umi" in Japanese). Its refined design highlights the glaze's texture and the natural expression of the material.

Minoyaki is a ceramic produced in the Mino region (Gifu Prefecture) for over 1300 years. Today, it accounts for nearly half of Japan's total ceramic production. Deeply linked to the tea ceremony, its kilns were actively developed in the 16th century by Furuta Oribe, a disciple of the legendary tea master Sen no Rikyu, who sought tableware worthy of this art. Thus, the qualities of this ceramic perfectly meet the demands of matcha preparation (various glazes, good grip, heat resistance...). Its aesthetic, combining rusticity and refinement, also fits into the wabi-sabi spirit of the tea ceremony.

Both understated and refined, this bowl adds an authentic Japanese touch to your tea moment.
