Description

This furoshiki is more precisely a "kikkake furoshiki": a large furoshiki (70 x 70 cm), designed to wrap large objects or be used as a tablecloth, wall hanging, or placemat.

Its "Sashiko" pattern is inspired by the traditional Japanese embroidery of the same name, a technique born in rural Japan to reinforce and mend worn clothes using simple threads and and needles. Its repetitive geometric patterns are printed (not embroidered), giving the fabric a delicate look while making it light and easy to tie.

This is a creation by Miyai, a Kyoto-based company founded in 1897, considered one of the absolute references for furoshiki in Japan. With more than 2500 models in its archives, Miyai presides over the Japanese Furoshiki Association, ensuring the preservation and promotion of this art around the world.

 

INTERVIEW

Machine washable at 40°C. Do not bleach. Hang to dry and iron at moderate temperature. Dry cleaning possible.
