Description
This furoshiki features a work by Keisuke Serizawa, from the "Isoho no tori" motif, inspired by Aesop's fables, with delicate illustrations of birds evoking lightness and poetry. A light and flexible cotton fabric square that is easy to tie, it can be used to wrap, give, or carry (bottle, bento, book, gift...) and reused endlessly. An elegant and durable alternative to disposable packaging.
The artist: Keisuke Serizawa
A major figure in Japanese textile art, Keisuke Serizawa developed the "kataezome", a stencil dyeing technique inherited from traditional katazome, to create a personal style of great finesse, inspired by Edo komon and Ise handmade paper. His works, representing geometric patterns, plants, animals and landscapes, combine sobriety and refinement in a deeply Japanese aesthetic. Named a Living National Treasure of Japan in 1956 (the highest distinction awarded to a living artist), he remains today one of the most admired figures in Japanese craftsmanship.
