Description

This furoshiki features a work by Keisuke Serizawa, inspired by the braided rope pattern of a Noren (Japanese curtain). A square of light, flexible, easy-to-tie cotton fabric, it can be used for wrapping, gifting, or carrying (bottles, bento boxes, books, gifts, etc.) and can be reused infinitely. An elegant and sustainable alternative to disposable packaging.

The artist: Keisuke Serizawa

A major figure in Japanese textile art, Keisuke Serizawa developed "kataezome," a stencil dyeing technique inherited from traditional katazome, to create a personal style of great finesse, drawing inspiration from Edo komon and Ise handmade paper. His works, depicting geometric patterns, plants, animals, and landscapes, combine sobriety and refinement in a deeply Japanese aesthetic. Named a Living National Treasure of Japan in 1956 (the highest honor bestowed upon a living artist), he remains today one of the most admired figures in Japanese craftsmanship.

INTERVIEW

Machine wash at 40°C. Do not bleach. Do not tumble dry. Iron at moderate temperature with a damp cloth in between.
