Company founded in 1967, Henta is a tea producer based in Kagoshima. Henta tea leaves are grown at the foot of Kirishima, a mountain range located in the center of Kagoshima, on the border with Miyazaki Prefecture. The fields are located at an altitude of 200 to 300m, surrounded by woods and mountains that prevent pesticide drift from nearby producers. Henta Seicha also produces its own compost to ensure its tea leaves receive sufficient nutrients. Around 2014, the company began cultivating tencha, a nutrient-rich unrefined tea, which is usually ground into powder to produce matcha.
