Emi Seishi
In 2008, Emi Seishi founded her company bamboo crafts in Namegata, in Ibaraki Prefecture, to preserve a know-how that is disappearing and respond to an environmental problem: the bamboo proliferation in Japan. Rather than letting this resource multiply, she chooses to exploit it to create useful and sustainable objects. Ms. Seishi reinterprets traditional everyday objects by adapting them to modern needs, while preserving ancient techniques such as the manufacture of bamboo strips. She masters the entire process, from bamboo selection to careful braiding, through the transformation of the material. Each basket and accessory is handmade, guaranteeing authenticity and quality. Designed to be repaired and to last over time, its products offer a responsible and environmentally friendly alternative. Bamboo craftsmanship is a very demanding profession that requires continuous learning in order to master material selection and weaving. Thus, its company goes beyond simple manufacturing by offering workshops to pass on its precious know-how.
