Use: Remove the grill. Insert the charcoal, which will already be well-glow from having been preheated. If you are using binchotan, which takes a long time to start, you can use our chimney starter to speed up the combustion. Oil the grill and then replace it. Once it is hot, you can start grilling your food. This Japanese barbecue is ideal for grilling meat, fish, and vegetables, or for skewers. The barbecue can be placed in the handle provided so you can move it without burning yourself.

Use in a well-ventilated area. Do not throw or place objects on the grill, as this may damage the grill. Sudden temperature changes may cause significant cracking or peeling. Do not pour water or sauce directly onto the grill. If stained, dab with a slightly damp cloth without rubbing, and dry thoroughly. After cooking, remove the charcoal and ash once cooled to keep it clean. Do not wash with water.

After 5-10 minutes, your binchotan will start to burn. Please note that this chimney does not work with electric or induction hobs because it requires direct contact.

Fundodai
The producer

Fundodai

The Okubo family, creators of clear soy sauce, began in the 17th century in Kumamoto, even before the famous castle was built. Initially, they produced sake, particularly akazake, a traditional regional sake found in their Heisei soy sauce. In 1869, the 11th generation reoriented the family business towards soy sauce brewing under the Fundodai brand. With over 150 years of history and a proud heritage, the Okubo family crest bearing the character ‘dai’ bears witness to its rich history. Today, Fundodai stands out for its aesthetic innovation. Its surprising transparent soy sauce, made by distilling koikuchi soy sauce, offers the deep flavour of traditional soy sauce with a modern, refined aesthetic.
