Mikuniya
Based in Hiroshima, Mikuniya perpetuates the art of nori in the pure Japanese tradition inherited from the Edo period. Since the 19th century, the Mimura family has stood out among the most renowned producers in the region, famous for its exceptionally high-quality seaweed, appreciated both in Osaka and in Edo (Tokyo). In 1918, Masutarō Mimura officially founded the house, specializing in the trading of nori and seafood. After the Second World War, his son relaunched the business with the aim of promoting Hiroshima nori throughout Japan. True to this heritage, Mikuniya now selects shiny nori sheets with a melting texture and a delicately sweet flavor, worked using artisanal methods that respect the seasons and nature. Without additives, their products reflect an authentic and refined taste, a testament to expertise preserved for over a century. Committed to a sustainable future, Mikuniya ensures a fair balance between producers, processors and distributors, and advocates ethical trade: to offer exceptional nori at a fair price, in order to preserve a unique tradition and terroir.
