Sakura is a variety of ornamental cherry tree that does not produce fruit. However, sakura is well appreciated for its flower, symbol of spring and fleeting nature. In Japanese cuisine, sakura takes various forms(sakura leaves, paste, vinegar etc.) and is used to add a floral touch to both sweet and savory preparations.
