The company is named Aola, literally the “mission of blue”, in reference to the indigo blue color, characteristic of the Tokushima region where indigo trees grow. As an ancestral Japanese tradition, indigo dyeing, was considered to be a high quality dye and was very widespread on fabrics. The company has developed new technics to dye wood while letting the details of the grain nicely visible. They make indigo paste and use it as a pigment rather than a dye. By doing so, they developed paint and spray versions that bring out the details of raw materials. The different items are made by craftsmen, using local materials.
