Founded in 1952 in the city of Sasebo by the grandparents of the current president, the Houmoto company has been producing sesame tofu for three generations, a specialty that developed in Nagasaki, after being brought by Buddhist monks in the 17th century. The company has developed its own method of roasting the sesame seeds needed to make its tofu to satisfy the demanding palate of the people of Nagasaki and maintain the quality of its products. In addition, these are prepared to order, in order to guarantee their freshness.
